The Maker Institute was created based on the interest of students and employees of the Dejvice Campus in 3D printing and other cutting edge fabrication technologies. And also thanks to the long-term intention of NTK to host a digital polytechnic workshop.
These impulses resulted in a joint project under the umbrella of Campus Dejvice when Dana Matějovská (Institute of Model Design, FA ČVUT), Richard Nevsimal (Counselling and Career Centre, Department of Communication, VŠCHT), and Martin Svoboda (Director of NTK) met. The Board of Trustees elected Leyla Yunis as the Director of the Institute.
Together they decided to establish a registered institute, functioning independently but working closely with the universities, NTK and other actors. The institute will bring together the research, student, business and public spheres on issues of maker technologies. The aim is to establish the first public FabLab in Prague Dejvice destrict - right in the NTK space and to be a support and home for interesting innovation projects.
The purpose of the institute is to prepare an inspiring environment for those interested, where ideas and new creative projects can emerge thanks to the connection of enthusiasts from different backgrounds.
